Trying to go against what a conventional melodic band would do and just sign with a major label and reach for national acclaim through a series of passable music videos and dumb downed songs with too-infectious hooks, December Avenue is succeeding in doing what they sought out to do, create good music and infect as many people not with flash and fancy but with the honesty of great songwriting and a live performance whose tightness is second to none.
Fast forward a year and a half later, Zel (Bautista, Acoustic Guitar and Vocals), Jet (Danao, Drums and Backing Vocals), Jem (Manuel, Lead Guitars) and Don (Regario, Bass) have won over the hearts of hundreds of young listeners through Social Networking and continue to make an indelible mark in what is a heavy rock-dominated playing field, the local gigging circuit with their trademark penchant for pop. Unadulterated and sugary sweet tunes that have gotten both musicians and fans listening and paying a whole lot more attention to December Avenue than what is normally given to their contemporaries.
